Content Addressable File Store - The Content Addressable File Store (CAFS) was a 1982 device developed by International Computers Ltd that provided a disk storage with built-in search capability. The motivation for the device was the discrepancy between the high speed at which a disk could deliver data, and the much lower speed at which a general-purpose processor could filter the data looking for records that matched a search condition.
Index file - An Index file is a computer file which is associated with one or more data files and allows records in the data file to be accessed by key value, rather than searching record by record; much like the index in the back of a book allows the reader to locate information in the book without having to search page by page.
Logic File System - The Logic File System is a research file system which replaces pathnames with expressions in propositional logic. It allows file metadata to be queried with a superset of the Boolean syntax commonly used in modern search engines.
Kill file - A kill file (also killfile, bozo bin or twit list) is a per-user file used by some Usenet reading programs (originally Larry Wall's rn) to discard summarily (without presenting for reading) articles matching some particularly uninteresting (or unwanted) patterns of subject, author, or other header lines.
